2006 Webby Award Nomination Official Thank You Page:
I would like to acknowledge the support of so many people who have helped
promote the website in order to gain votes for the People's Choice Award. First
and foremost, I would like to thank all of the daily visitors to the website. In
addition, I would like to thank the
Webby Awards and the
International Academy of Digital
Arts and Sciences for the nomination of best science website for 2006.
The other four sites are very nice indeed:
Wired.com was nice enough to run an interview by
Michael O'Neill. You can read about it
here, and you can learn a bit about me.
There are so many people to thank, most notably my lovely wife Chanthirar for
the design and layout of this website, my family and close friends,
Stanford University
Hospital - Department of Ophthalmology,
Anka Systems Inc.,
Ophthalmic Imaging Systems,
Swinburne Astronomy
Online,
Michael O'Neill, the awesome folks over at
Little White Dog,
and the letter M. The sanity of music has kept this project going so I also have
to thank Rush, Boards of Canada, Al Di Meola, Planet X, Schiller, Wolfsheim and
a touch of Rammstein.
I also could not have done this without fresh sushi and home-made beef vegetable
soup. Some very nice things have been said about
Astronomy Online as well - including reviews on the People's Choice website:
"The site looks amazing!" Dr. Alyssa A. Goodman, Professor of Astronomy and
Director for Innovative Computing, Harvard University
"Impressive
Science Website:
Astronomy Online
meets all the criteria for an interesting, yet valuable science asset
for those who love science and those who need to know about a topic. The
website was easy to navigate, and I am impressed that this is a private
(individual's) site. Let's tell everyone about it." neochonetes

"Professional and Thorough:
This is a great
resource for those with an interest in astronomy- well organized,
featuring a great (collection) of valuable links and providing
information that is well written and easy to understand. It's diversity
is it's strength compared to the other entries being considered.
Astronomy is a burgeoning field of inquiry and this site covers the
entire gammit making it a great place to see the latest marvel, learn or
conduct a search. That this is not the work of a huge team of people
makes the site all the more amazing!" ggabany

"Impressive:
Very nice site!
It's well organized, very well written, and informative. The writing was
easy to understand, but not condescending. I've only scratched the
surface of what is presented here on this site, and I'm looking forward
to delving in some more. I appreciate how well-thought out it is. It
encompasses a lot of information in an easy to navigate site. In other
words, I didn't get lost, even though it is huge!" linda

this guy is a
(true) local hero. Not a major corporation that makes its money off
public funds. Here Here to the little guy" skildude
