This is a mosaic of M82 taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. Using data from MAST, I used MaxIm DL and PhotoShop CS3 to process and assemble this image. Because the Hubble is in space, there are no atmospheric limitations which results in not only a striking image of the galaxy, but of the tiny galaxies that are peripheral to intended object. M82 is a cigar shaped irregular galaxy in the constellation Ursa Major.
