Elon Musk has announced the date of the flight to Mars

By Charles Stackpole

In recent years, when we talk about space, first of all, our thoughts come to an analysis of the activities of Elon Musk. This man completely turned people's ideas about state campaigns for space exploration, as his private corporation SpaceX has achieved much more success than many states. In this article, we will talk about Elon Musk's plans to conquer Mars and explain why he is so popular on Twitter. Maybe it's an illusion, and he prefers to buy followers on Twitter? We'll find out soon.

On March 16, 2022, the founder of SpaceX and Tesla, Elon Musk, indirectly confirmed his corporation's plans for an early colonization of Mars. The entrepreneur commented on the meme on Twitter regarding the first landing of a man on the Red Planet. Musk hinted that this would happen in 2029. Thus, the popularizer of interplanetary travel indicated the start date for a possible expedition.

The head of SpaceX is not the first time he makes predictions regarding the conquest of another planet. Moreover, the timing of the landing of man on Mars was constantly shifted. In 2016, he promised that if everything goes according to plan, then his corporation will be able to deliver the first earthlings to Mars in 2024 or 2025. In 2020, Elon Musk said that he had ambitions to build a thousand spaceships in ten years in order to resettle a million people on the planet by 2050. The first launch was scheduled for 2026. The latest forecast was given by the businessman just recently in an interview with Time magazine, which recognized him as the person of the year. Then Musk said that he would be surprised if in five years a person does not get to Mars.

As a rule, Musk's loudest statements are noticed by users on Twitter. Each post and comment of the famous entrepreneur is considered from different angles in search of hidden meaning. It is not surprising that now almost 75 million people have subscribed to his account. This amazing person has gathered a huge audience around him without the need for advertising, low-quality PR or to buy Twitter followers.

Musk plans to transfer a million tons of cargo to Mars and establish a colony there
If we assume that the flight to Mars in 2029 fails, then in seven years SpaceX will obviously be closer to the first launch than it is now. The corporation has already developed a flight plan, according to which the company's ships will continuously run between the Earth and the Red Planet on the Starship rocket. After launch and entry into low Earth orbit, the rocket will be replenished with the help of a tanker, which will then return to Earth.

SpaceX engineers estimate the duration of a one-way flight at six months. After landing, Starship can be refueled using Martian supplies, and then sent back for the next expedition. To establish a colony on the planet, humanity, according to Elon Musk, will need about one million tons of materials. In this regard, at the first stage of development, the ships of his corporation will have to run continuously between Earth and Mars.

Many specialists believe that if SpaceX fails to overcome the difficulties in the production of ships and does not solve other pressing problems, flights to Mars will remain the subject of science fiction. So far, humanity is holding onto Earth something stronger than gravity.
